Emily and Andrew have a pretty unique story, as they ended up meeting and dating for the first time twice - five years apart.
(The Proposal) (Narrated from Emily) Andrew made reservations at our favorite camping spot in Idyllwild, CA. He decided to take the day off on Friday so they could get up early to go on a sunset hike (Emily is a college professor and doesn't teach on Fridays). On their way to the ca
mping spot, Andrew gave Emily a rare beer (Pliny the Elder) from a brewery north of San Francisco as it is one of Emily's favorite beers. When he gave her that for the car ride, Emily knew something was up.
Once Emily and Andrew got to the campground they saw that there was a fire restriction and so all of the food they brought for the weekend to cook over the fire was useless. Also, it was pitch dark. Frustrated, they drove to what they thought was their favorite campsite only to realize that Andrew had reserved the wrong one - they were in the campsite next to the one they usually camped at. After so many things going wrong, Andrew still insisted that they go on a "night hike". Emily was confused as to why Andrew wasn't waiting until the next day to propose, but went along with his idea. Ten minutes into the hike they couldn't see, it was cold, and Emily told Andrew that they should turn around. Instead, Andrew got down on one knee and proposed - shining the flashlight on the right because it was too dark to see!
Emily couldn't stop laughing and smiling as they returned to their campsite. While there, she started putting up their tent as Andrew went to get things out of the car. All of a sudden, Emily heard a bunch of people start to walk through their campsite! Surprised, and a little scared, Emily turned around to see five of their best friends with flashlights, champagne, and cupcakes! That is when Emily started crying. Overwhelmed with love and gratitude, the gang piled into cars to go get pizza in town. It wasn't the perfect proposal Andrew had planned, but it ended up being pretty perfect.
Surrounded by family and friends, Emily & Andrew tied the knot on January 13th, 2018 at Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla, California.
There was not a dry eye as the couple recited their personal vows.
"I vow to live my life to be worthy of that love that you have given me and to return that love to you a thousandfold." - Andrew
"Andrew, we had many memorable memories, but the best on in my life was when i saw you again for the first time and I knew that I'd found my home in only in the city that we're now getting married in but in you as well." - Emily
Emily and Andrew were over the moon excited when they were pronounced husband and wife, it was truly a priceless moment.
Following the ceremony, music played in celebration of the beautiful newlyweds. Mr. and Mrs. Packer cheered and rejoiced with family while they walked down the aisle together as husband and wife. It was truly a beautiful sight.
